Atheists Helping the Homeless started in December of 2016 and does monthly giveaways of personal health and comfort items to the homeless in Finlay Park on the third Sunday.
Details can be found in the events section of their Facebook page and donations can be made in person or via their Amazon wishlist.
If Sandhills and downtown Columbia are just a bit too far for you to travel, or there just aren't enough events for you already, got one in Lexington! Come join us on the fourth Tuesday of every month at the Old Mill Brewpub.
Details can be found in the events section of our Facebook page or on the Meetup page. RSVPs on one of those sites are appreciated as they help us plan for seating.
UU Humanists meets at 7pm on the second Thursday of each month at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbia. Enter from Heyward St, go past the library (octagonal building) and through the double doors. We can usually be found in the first classroom in this hallway. There are often other groups using the facility, if you get turned around they should be able to point you in the right direction.
This is a discussion group type of meeting. Our discussions tend to be centered around humanism and currently trending topics at this meeting, but there is no strict agenda. We usually wrap up the official meeting around 9 and then head someplace for a late dinner. It's a great chance to discuss ideas involving science, religion, and philosophy with other freethinkers!
Details can be found in the events section of our Facebook page or on the Meetup page. RSVPs on one of those sites are appreciated as they help us plan for seating.
